Lindsey’s Groom Room

|
The Kings Park Chamber of
Commerce welcomes “Lindsey’s Groom Room” Dog Grooming
Service to Kings Park. Located on Main Street in Kings
Park, this new business is yet another example of
revitalization of the Kings Park Downtown. With the near
completion of Savatt Park and new traffic controls in
place to increase the safety of pedestrians, Downtown
Kings Park is becoming a destination for both local
residents as well as visitors.
Lindsey’s explains that
she has over ten years’ experience in dog grooming. In
addition to full service dog grooming, they also offer
self-service dog washing. “Some of the pets (and owners)
may suffer from separation anxiety; For these families
we supply the dog washing/drying area and all the items
needed for them to give their family friend a good
washing without messing up the home. ”
In addition to being
Kings Park’s newest business person, this lifelong Kings
Park Resident is committed to providing pro-bono
services to rescue dogs and pets in crisis.

wonderful afternoon, great weather and old friends made
this year's festival even more memorable than ever.
Pictured above, George McKnight distributes old glory to
all passers by. In addition to his patriotic duties,
George used his office as an impromptu cool off
satiation for festival guests, a welcomed rest for more
that a few.
The
entire Town of Kings Park came out for this traditional
American Festival and our most sincere thanks to the
Kings Park Chamber of Commerce, Charlie Gardner, Dee

Ciro's Restaurant Grand
Opening!

|
Ciro’s 107 Italian
Restaurant in Kings Park has moved to a larger
location at 74 Main Street in Kings Park formally
occupied by “Patty Joe’s. “This is a wonderful
location and has much more room than our previous
restaurant” explains co-owner Robert Mejia. ”We
dropped the 107 from our name because that was the
physical address of the old location. Other than
that, we have the same great food and the same great
service”.
Smithtown Town
Council Member Ed Wehrheim explained “This is
another step forward for the revitalization of the
Kings Park Business District. The Town of Smithtown
has been working closely with the Kings Park Chamber
of Commerce in creating a pedestrian friendly Main
Street. With the advent of Savatt Park, crosswalks,
improved lighting and signage, business will take
advantage of the improved business climate and
invest in Kings Park.”
“I look forward to
attending these ribbon cutting ceremonies” explained
Smithtown Clerk Vincent Puleo. “There always is
lots of talk out there, but this is action. We have
a business here who is willing to invest their hard
earned dollars to expand in Kings Park because it
is in their best interest to do so, that is what the
private sector is all about. That is what is going
help our economy rebound. I have to thank the owners
Mat and Roberto for helping us to build an even
better Kings Park.
Attending the ribbon
cutting ceremony were several Smithtown officials
including Supervisor Patrick Vecchio, Council Member
Ed Wehrheim, Town Clerk Vincent Puleo, Receiver of
Taxes Deanna Varricchio and Kings Park Chamber of
Commerce President Charlie Gardner.

Kings Park Chamber of

January 2010 General Meeting

The Kings Park Chamber Of Commence January
Organizational Luncheon was hosted on January 27th,
2010 at the newly renovated VFW Hall in Kings Park.
This first meeting of the 2010 Calendar year was catered by Ciro's 107 Italian Restaurant insuring
that plenty of great food and fun was had by all.
Kings Park
Chamber of Commerce President Charles Gardner
announced that the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce
has adopted a revised mission statement for the
organization which better reflects the community
focus and dynamic nature of the Kings Park
Chamber of Commerce.
Mission
Statement:
|
“The
Kings Park Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the task of
promoting its member businesses through a spirit of mutual
cooperation. We are focused on enhancing the Kings Park
community as a whole, through the networking of our business
community with local and statewide elected officials as well as
community organizations. We are committed to community
re-investment and growth through education.” |

Pictured Above,
Honored Guest Smithtown Town Supervisor Patrick
Vecchio administers the oath of office for the new
slate of officers who are responsible for insuring
the mission Kings Park Chamber of Commerce.
The Kings Park Chamber
of Commerce would like to thank our sponsors:
McKnight Realtors, Kings Park Shipping and Business,
Lateri Waste Management Systems and Butler Funeral
Home.
Learn How To Say
NO!
"Learn
how to say no!" explained Smithtown Town
Supervisor Patrick Vecchio during his keynote
address to the members of the Kings Park Chamber
of Commerce.
Mr. Vecchio,
fresh off his overwhelming re-election victory
spoke about how special interest groups are just
that, special interest groups who advocate for a
specific narrowly focused issue. The role of a
chief executive is to consider the long and
short term objectives of the entire
organization. "We need to keep spending under
control."
Mr. Vecchio,
speaking before a near capacity audience
continued on to give several examples on how
many other towns on Long Island have layers and
layers of assistants and deputies. "Smithtown is
in good financial condition because Smithtown's
Government does not engage in this type of
patronage."
The message was
clear from the longest serving town supervisor
in the nation who explained that he is indeed
speaking from experience. "This is one lesson
our leaders in Washington can learn, government
can't be everything to everybody, it's
unsustainable."
Supervisor
Vecchio recalled with a sense of pride a
statement made by current New York State
Assembly Member Mike Fitzpatrick when reflecting
on Mike's twelve year tenure as a Smithtown Town
Council Member, "Mike said that one of the most
valuable lessons he learned as member of the
Smithtown Town Council was how to say no."
The Kings Park
Chamber Of Commerce will not be meeting in
February in preparation of the of the Annual
Kings Park Chamber of Commerce Person Of The
Year Dinner which will be held on Friday, March
5th 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in Hauppauge. For

Kings Park Chamber of Commerce
November General Meeting

|
Special Guest Speaker New York State Senator John
Flanagan addressed a near capacity audience at the
Kings Park Chamber of Commerce's November General
Meeting on 11/17/2010. Fresh off his latest
re-election victory in which the 2nd Senatorial
District voted 70% to re-elect the hard
working public official; John Flanagan expressed
appreciation for the trust the people have placed in
him.
Senator Flanagan explained that after all the
recounting is complete, it is expected that the
Republicans will have a majority in the New York
State Senate and the Democrats will have a majority
in the Assembly. "Governor Elect Cuomo ran from the
center and hopefully he will govern in that way as
well".
Senator John as he is known as by many of his
constituents, reported on the recent meeting with
the New York State Park Officials and the local
community, he expressed support for interim NYS
Parks Commissioner Andy Beers, saying that Mr. Beers
knows the job and unique issues surrounding the old
Kings Park Psychiatric Center. Senator Flanagan
expressed concern over the $200 million plus price
tag for the KPPC Cleanup and mentioned that in this
economy, its likely that bids may come in lower than
originally expected. |
